Frequently Asked Question's

After School Course Questions

Teamtheme What is the cost to the school?
Nothing at all. The parents pay for their own child to attend the course. It is Teamtheme’s aim to offer our service to all school children in the UK, regardless of the size of their school.
Teamtheme I don ’t know what level of response you will get; would that be a problem?
Don’t worry, each course is Teamtheme’s responsibility, and at no loss or risk to the school. However, in order to run the course, we need a minimum of 12 children to participate. We will provide letters to all children interested and wait for them to be returned back into school for enrolment.
Teamtheme We have another coaching company / organisation in at the moment?
Excellent. The more the merrier we say, let's keep the kids active at all times. Obviously there are 52 weeks in the year and the other company can't be in all year round, so there is room for everyone to offer their particular service or course to the school, the parents and the children. You'll find that we're all different so it's good to sample a range.
Teamtheme How many places are available on each course?
Every child who wants to join in is guaranteed a place, as our numbers are unlimited. Teamtheme will provide as many coaches as bookings dictate. We work on a basis of one coach with up to approximately 24 children. There may be more than one coach per group where possible, particularly with younger children.
Teamtheme Are you insured?
Teamtheme ensures that the Health, Safety and Security of all players is the highest priority and of paramount importance. The coach is adequately insured for all risks, whilst additionally holding FACA Insurance and Police Clearance. However, Teamtheme cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to you or your child’s property or equipment whilst attending a course.
Teamtheme What kind of kit do the children need?
The players are advised to bring appropriate kit, along with both trainers and boots (if available) and shin pads. School PE kits can be worn, but wearing school pumps is strongly discouraged. The need for warm clothing and/or waterproofs is also recommended, as well as plenty of fluids and possibly suncream in very hot weather.
Teamtheme Should I offer the course to the infants, as they may struggle to get ready quickly?
None of the coaches can help dress the children, as this goes against F.A. Child Protection Guidelines, but parents can help if they wish. However, the older children will be sent to help younger ones with shinpads, socks and shoelaces, under supervision of the coaches.
Teamtheme Can parents come and watch?
All parents are welcome to watch their children, and even help them get ready if they wish. The last week is the best week to watch, as the medal and trophy presentation takes place at the end of the tournament.
Teamtheme What happens in bad weather?
Teamtheme try to stay outside as much as possible. However, in poor weather, the use of the hall or even a classroom may be requested, for the youngest group’s use. In very poor weather, all children can go in the hall or classroom. Activities and games are then played by the children, fully supervised by the coaches for the full session.
Teamtheme When do you collect the children’s booking forms?
Approximately 2 days prior to the course commencing, we will collect all available booking forms from your school. From this information, we can decide the groups, pitch layout and provision of coaches. We can also prepare group registers so that we are ready on the day of the course. You can submit booking slips after this, and your child is still guaranteed a place. We will go into the school on the day of the course to pick up any last minute extras, however we strongly recommend earlier booking, as this means we can provide enough coaches for the course.
Teamtheme Do Teamtheme have any connections to professional football clubs in the area?
Teamtheme regularly recommend promising players to the nearest local professional club. We have an impressive track record of improving young players to the level where they catch the interest of the various Youth Academy scouts.
